Welcome to my website. My name is Alexander and I am the craftsman behind ATILLO. In a small studio in Malmö I design and build furniture and interior objects with an ambition to not only further my craft, but doing so through a minimalist approach.
Now
I’m a woodworker based in Malmö.
I choose to call myself a woodworker—not a cabinet maker or carpenter—because it captures the broader scope of what I do and who I am as a maker. I work with wood to create a variety of forms and objects, and I share my process and progress on Instagram, YouTube, and here. ATILLO began as a way to separate my creative work from my own name. Using my name came with too many associations and distractions. ATILLO gives me a space to focus, to explore ideas more freely, and to shape a clearer visual language in my design. I’m not entirely sure what the end goal is, apart from making and selling work. Sharing the process is, in many ways, for myself—to document the journey, reflect on it, and stay grounded as I move forward.

Then
My education.
I hold a gesällbrev (journeyman certificate) in cabinetmaking (möbelsnickaryrket), which I earned at Capellagården—a craft school founded in 1961 by Carl Malmsten. It’s a place with a rich history, and if you’re curious, there are a few books written about it.
I spent three years at Capellagården, following a previous year studying cabinetmaking at another school. From the beginning, I had a sense that I’d probably never work in quite the same way again. The focus there was total—the days were long and completely centered around the craft. Looking back, I miss that intensity. But what I took with me from that time isn’t just technique—it’s something I carry forward into the future of my work.
